ESB Networks Glitch Affects Export Data for 200,000 Solar Households

Saturday 4 July 2026

A technical glitch at ESB Networks has prevented the correct display of solar generation export data for over 200,000 households.

Over 200,000 Irish households with solar panels are facing delays in viewing and receiving credit for surplus electricity exported to the grid due to a technical glitch at ESB Networks.

The issue, which has been attributed to IT maintenance, has prevented the correct display of energy generation data on the My Energy application. The data outage has occurred during a period of peak solar generation, leading to concerns among homeowners enrolled in Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) tariffs that their export payments may be missed or delayed.

ESB Networks has confirmed that the underlying smart meters and metering hardware are functioning normally, meaning no generation data is being permanently lost. Billing data also remains unaffected, although accurate generation information was only available up to 25 May 2026.

The network operator stated that the database and display application would be updated to reflect accurate information by Monday.
