The Government has published an updated National Development Plan outlining €275.4 billion in public investment to unlock housing and upgrade infrastructure.
Published on 22 July 2025, the updated plan details capital allocations of €102.4 billion for the period from 2026 to 2030. This updated framework represents an additional €34 billion compared to the previous National Development Plan (NDP). It allocates €10 billion in equity funding up to 2030 to support major strategic initiatives across the energy, water, and transport sectors.
To address ongoing housing demand, the plan targets the delivery of 300,000 new homes by 2030. Key capital commitments include €12.2 billion designated for the water sector and €3.5 billion in equity for energy projects. According to reports from *The Irish Times*, Uisce Éireann will receive €4.5 billion, while overall housing-related funding—incorporating essential water infrastructure investment—will total approximately €36 billion to help speed up project delivery.
