An Bord Pleanála schedules oral hearing for Meath County Council vacant homes compulsory purchase order

Wednesday 15 July 2026

An Bord Pleanála has published the oral hearing agenda for a disputed vacant homes compulsory purchase order in County Meath.

An Bord Pleanála has published the agenda for an upcoming oral hearing regarding Meath County Council Compulsory Purchase Order No. 4/2025 (Vacant Homes).

The hearing, under reference ACP-323107-25, is scheduled to address the acquisition of property by the local authority. The agenda allocates a maximum of 30 minutes for Meath County Council to deliver its submission. This presentation will cover an overview of the compulsory purchase order (CPO), the justification for the acquisition with reference to alternative options considered, and the Council's response to written objections.

A written objection has been lodged by Mary Myles, who has been allocated a maximum of 30 minutes to make a submission, either personally or through a representative.

The proceedings allow for up to 45 minutes of cross-questioning between the participating parties, including questions from the objector to the Council, from the Council to the objector, and from the presiding Inspector to both parties.

According to the planning authority, the primary purpose of the oral hearing is to offer all involved parties an opportunity to make further submissions and to enable the Inspector to seek clarification on outstanding issues and objections. There is no obligation for any party to make an oral submission or ask questions, as all previously submitted written arguments remain under full consideration by the Inspector and the Commission.
