Appeals Stall €1bn Westmeath Data Centre and Solar Farm Project

A proposed €1 billion data centre campus and solar farm in Rochfortbridge, County Westmeath, has been stalled after ten third-party appeals were lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála.
An Coimisiún Pleanála has received ten third-party appeals against a proposed €1 billion data centre campus and solar farm in Rochfortbridge, County Westmeath.
The development, which is planned for a 600-acre site across several townlands, had previously received planning permission from Westmeath County Council. The project is being developed by Red Admiral DC Ltd, a company that is part of the Lumcloon Energy Group, owned by Offaly businessman Nigel Reams.
However, progress on the project has now been stalled following the submission of the ten third-party appeals. One of the appeals was lodged by local farmer William Carey on behalf of his family. Carey argued that the proposed development would significantly affect his family home, their farming activities, and the wider local community.
