
Dáil refers seven new exempted development regulations and outdoor event licensing rules to Joint Committee

Seven new draft exempted development regulations and new outdoor event licensing rules have been referred to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
Dáil Éireann has referred a series of draft planning regulations to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage for consideration.
The motion was brought forward by Deputy John Cummins, the Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The referral encompasses seven distinct draft regulations concerning exempted development, alongside a new measure for event licensing. Specifically, the draft orders referred to the committee are:
- Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) Regulations 2026 (numbered No. 1 through to No. 7)
- Planning and Development (Licensing of Outdoor Events) Regulations 2026
These draft regulations were laid before Dáil Éireann on 2nd July and 14th July 2026. Under the terms of the motion, the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage is directed to send a message back to the Dáil regarding the proposals.
