Eirebus Ltd has appealed Fingal County Council's decision to refuse planning retention for 19 modular units and six mobile homes used by transport workers at its Corduff Road depot.
Eirebus Ltd has appealed Fingal County Council's refusal of planning retention for staff accommodation at its north Dublin depot to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The Swords Express operator had sought a three-year retention permission for 19 modular accommodation units and six mobile home units situated at its transport depot on Corduff Road, Dublin 15. Fingal County Council refused the application on the grounds that the layout and arrangement of the units represented a serious form of substandard residential living.
In the appeal submission prepared by planning consultant Peter Thomson, the company stated that sourcing off-site accommodation for its workforce would require €6 million to €7 million in capital expenditure and an additional €250,000 in annual recurring costs. The submission argued that such outlays would render the transport operator economically non-viable amid a chronic shortage of rental housing in the surrounding area.
According to the appeal documents, 43 workers reside in the on-site units out of a total staff of 92, of whom 68 are non-Irish nationals. The submission described the depot accommodation arrangement as essential to supporting the company's operational workforce.
