The Government has moved to refer new draft planning regulations to a Joint Oireachtas Committee for consideration.
Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, Deputy Mary Butler, proposed the motion during the Order of Business in the Dáil on 7 July 2026.
The proposal concerns the referral of the draft Planning and Development Act (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) Regulations 2026, alongside the Planning and Development (Licensing of Outdoor Events) Regulations 2026. Under the proposed arrangements, the motion to refer these draft regulations to the Joint Committee was scheduled to be taken without debate, with any claimed division to be taken immediately.
Additionally, the Dáil's weekly schedule includes legislative progress on several other housing and planning items, including the scheduled Committee and remaining stages of the Planning and Development (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Report and Final Stages of the Housing and Residential Tenancies (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2026.
