Greystones beauty salon faces uncertainty after two retention appeals rejected

Saturday 15 August 2026

The Greystones-based salon Makeup by Beth, which was built without planning permission, has had two planning retention appeals rejected.

An unauthorised beauty salon in Greystones has had two planning retention appeals rejected, leaving the owner's family seeking a way to keep the business.

The salon, Makeup by Beth, is run by 26-year-old Beth Teehan and was built without planning permission. Following the construction, retention appeals were lodged in an attempt to secure retrospective planning approval for the structure. However, two separate retention appeals have now been officially rejected.

Despite the rejection of both appeals, the business owner's mother has expressed hope that they will be able to keep the salon. The decisions leave the future of the physical structure uncertain as the family considers their remaining options.
