Help to Buy rebate to increase to €35,000 under Budget 2027
Tuesday 6 October 2026
Government coalition leaders have agreed a €5,000 increase to the Help to Buy tax rebate for first-time buyers ahead of Budget 2027.
Coalition leaders have agreed a €5,000 increase to the Help to Buy tax rebate, taking the relief to €35,000 for first-time buyers.
The change was signed off ahead of the formal presentation of Budget 2027 to Dáil Éireann by Ministers Jack Chambers and Simon Harris. The adjustment forms part of a broader budgetary package addressing household costs and taxation.
Alongside the revision to the first-time buyer rebate, the budget agreement includes changes to income tax thresholds, raising the entry point for the higher rate of income tax from €44,000 to €46,500. Broader social protection measures finalised ahead of the announcement include a €10 weekly increase to the State pension and other core social welfare payments, while the rate of Children's Allowance remains unchanged.
The revised figures are scheduled for formal delivery before Dáil Éireann on Tuesday afternoon.
