Ireland's connected solar capacity has almost quadrupled since 2023, with the equine and agricultural sectors increasingly looking toward renewable energy installations.
According to data reported by *The Irish Field*, almost 6% of the electricity generated in Ireland during July came from solar sources. This growth comes as sporting and agricultural venues across Ireland and the UK integrate large-scale solar arrays into their facilities.
For comparison, Ascot Racecourse recently completed one of the largest rooftop solar installations in UK sport, mounting 1,200 solar panels across its 480-metre grandstand.
To address solar deployment in rural settings, *The Irish Field* is organising a solar energy information evening at Kildangan Stud in Monasterevin, County Kildare. Staged in association with the Irish Farmers Association and Bord Gáis Energy, the information session will take place on Monday, 24 August at 6:00 pm.
