Irish construction sector grew by 7.2% in 2025 as economic indicators improve

Saturday 4 July 2026

New Central Statistics Office figures show Ireland's construction sector recorded 7.2% growth in Gross Value Added during 2025.

Ireland's construction sector recorded 7.2% growth in Gross Value Added (GVA) during 2025, according to the latest Annual National Accounts from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

This sector-specific growth occurred alongside a 4.7% rise in Modified Domestic Demand (MDD), which measures Ireland's underlying economic activity through domestic demand, investment, and consumer spending.

Data from the latest Irish Building Magazine Top 50 Contractors League Tables also points to increased market activity. The combined turnover for the country's top 50 main and specialist contractors reached €20.74 billion in 2025, representing an increase from €18.4 billion recorded during the previous year.

This upward trend reflects ongoing development activity across multiple building sectors, including housing, infrastructure, healthcare, life sciences, data centres, and advanced manufacturing.
