The Irish Planning Institute has warned that the planning system is under pressure and called for a review and phased increase of planning application fees.
The Irish Planning Institute (IPI) has warned that the country's planning system is under pressure and called for planning application fees to be increased.
The call from the planning body's leadership follows established policy positions regarding the funding of the planning system. In previous representations to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the IPI has advocated for a comprehensive review of planning application fees.
According to the Institute, fees should be subject to a phased increase to ensure they more accurately represent the real cost of providing the planning service. The body has also previously argued that fee structures should reflect the increased development value created when planning permission is successfully obtained.
