The Land Development Agency and Kildare County Council have launched the next phase of 25 affordable homes at Barracksfield West in Naas.
This latest phase consists of A-rated properties, including 11 one-bedroom apartments, seven two-bedroom duplexes, and seven three-bedroom houses. Every three-bedroom house is designed with a garden, while the apartment units feature balconies or terraces.
The scheme represents the first project by the Land Development Agency (LDA) outside of Dublin to directly deliver social and affordable housing on state-owned land. Located on John Devoy Road to the southwest of Naas town centre, the development sits on land that was formerly part of the Devoy Barracks complex. This state-owned land was transferred to the LDA by The Housing Agency.
Once the entire Barracksfield West development is fully completed, it will provide a total of 219 homes. The finished masterplan is set to include bicycle parking spaces, communal open spaces, and a crèche. Transport links from the site connect to the M7 and M9 motorways, as well as Dublin city centre and nearby towns.
Prospective buyers will be able to access the homes in this phase via the Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme.
