The National Asset Management Agency (Nama) has been formally dissolved, with its remaining assets, staff, and active legal cases transferring to the National Treasury Management Agency.
The National Asset Management Agency (Nama) has been formally dissolved after 17 years of operation.
The agency, which was established as a response to the Irish financial crash, has substantially completed its wind-down. At its peak, the agency employed more than 200 staff members, but this number has since decreased to eight.
Under the transition plan, the remaining eight staff members will transfer to the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) to manage the residual loan portfolio. The remaining work of the agency includes around five active legal cases and residual assets, which will be managed by an NTMA resolution unit once the necessary enabling legislation is enacted.
Reports indicate that Nama is handing over its remaining assets, which include a residual portfolio and cash reserves, to the NTMA to conclude its operations. The formal dissolution marks the end of one of the major state institutions created in Ireland following the property crash.
