Wednesday 9 September 2026

An Coimisiún Pleanála has issued the agenda for an oral hearing regarding a compulsory purchase order by Laois County Council on a derelict site.

An Coimisiún Pleanála has published the oral hearing agenda for a Laois County Council compulsory purchase order on a derelict site.

The oral hearing, under case reference ACP-324128, is designed to give all interested parties who wish to participate an opportunity to make further submissions. It also allows the appointed Inspector to seek clarification on any outstanding objections or relevant planning issues.

According to the planning authority, parties will have the opportunity to ask questions or seek clarification on presentations made during the proceedings. However, there is no obligation on any party to make a submission or question others. Written submissions that have already been received will be fully considered by the Inspector and the Commission, meaning they do not need to be repeated during the hearing.

The Commission has clarified that it has no jurisdiction or role in determining or assessing compensation. Consequently, no discussions regarding compensation will be permitted during the oral hearing. Following the conclusion of the hearing, the Inspector will draft a report and recommendation on the case.
