Over 4,000 Tipperary Homes Now Have Rooftop Solar

Wednesday 2 September 2026

Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland records show that one in 13 Tipperary households has rooftop solar, with over 4,000 total installations.

One in every 13 households in Tipperary now has rooftop solar panels installed, according to official records from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.

The figures detail a significant rise in domestic solar energy systems across the county over recent years. Total completed home solar installations in Tipperary have now surpassed the 4,000 mark.

According to the data, only 161 Tipperary households registered solar installations in 2021. This figure grew steadily each subsequent year, peaking at 1,438 installations last year. For the current year of 2026, records show that 788 county householders have already adopted the technology.

The steady annual rise highlights an accelerating trend in domestic microgeneration and renewable energy adoption among homeowners in the region.
