
Seanad Refers Draft Exempted Development Regulations to Joint Housing Committee

Seanad Éireann has referred the draft Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) Regulations 2026 to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
Seanad Éireann has referred a proposal to approve the draft Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) Regulations 2026 to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
Senator Margaret Murphy O'Mahony moved the motion in the Seanad to refer the draft regulations, which were previously laid in draft form before Seanad Éireann on 2 July 2026.
Under Standing Order 79(2)(b), the Joint Committee is required to consider the draft proposal and send a message back to the Seanad. The motion stipulates that this message must be delivered no later than 15 July 2026, in accordance with the prescribed parliamentary standing orders.
