Thursday 16 July 2026

Seanad Éireann has discharged a previous order and referred the draft Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) (No.3) Regulations 2026 to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Seanad Éireann has agreed to refer proposed new planning rules on exempted development to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin moved a motion to discharge the previous Seanad Order of 9 July 2026 regarding the approval in draft of the Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) (No.3) Regulations 2026.

Under the newly agreed motion, the draft regulations—which were laid before Seanad Éireann on 14 July 2026—have been referred to the Joint Committee.

According to the motion, the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage is required to send a message back to the Seanad in the prescribed manner no later than 15 July 2026.
