Seanad refers proposed 2026 exempted development regulations to Joint Committee

Seanad Éireann has referred a proposal to approve the Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) (No.6) Regulations 2026 to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Seanad Éireann has referred a proposal to approve the draft Planning and Development (Exempted Development (Act of 2000)) (No.6) Regulations 2026 to the Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Senator Margaret Murphy O'Mahony moved the motion in the Seanad to refer the draft regulations, which were laid in draft form before Seanad Éireann on 2 July 2026.

The referral was made in accordance with Standing Order 79(2)(b). Under the terms of the motion, the Joint Committee is required to send a message to the Seanad regarding the proposal no later than 15 July 2026, in line with Standing Order 84, with Standing Order 86(2) applying accordingly.
