Tipperary County Council has granted planning permission to BMA Performance Ltd for the conversion of a former industrial unit in Thurles into a new gym.

Tipperary County Council has granted planning permission to BMA Performance Ltd for a new gym and wellness facility in Thurles.

The local authority approved the development on 30 July 2026, subject to four conditions. The application, lodged in May 2026 by former Tipperary hurling captain Brendan Maher on behalf of BMA Performance Ltd, sought a change of use for a premises at Railway Road, Thurles.

The project involves converting a former light industrial unit, previously occupied by Dinan Timber Products, into a gym and wellness centre. Under the approved plans, the new facility will feature an open gym area and a pilates studio. The development also includes provisions for associated car parking and site access.

The planning registry lists the application under reference number 2660391.
