Wicklow County Council is directly managing the construction of 106 social homes and a crèche at Burgage More, Blessington, following delays due to a ministerial cost review.

Wicklow County Council is progressing construction on a 106-unit social housing scheme in Blessington following delays caused by a ministerial cost review.

The local authority is directly managing the development at Burgage More, Blessington, which is situated on a site of approximately 3.53 hectares. Approved under the Council's Part 8 planning process, the project comprises 70 houses, 36 duplex apartments, and a two-storey crèche.

In addition to the residential units, the development includes associated road and access works. These works involve the reconfiguration of the existing access point, the construction of a new junction to the north of the site, and the installation of new footpaths.

The scheme was previously delayed alongside several other social housing projects due to a ministerial review of costs. Following the review, the local authority decided to manage the Burgage More project directly. The total build period for the development is estimated to last approximately 18 months.
