Work begins on Ireland's largest rooftop solar installation at Mannok facilities in Cavan

Friday 10 July 2026

Activ8 Solar Energies has started work on a 6MW rooftop solar project at Mannok's manufacturing facilities in County Cavan.

Work has commenced on what is set to become Ireland's largest rooftop solar installation at the Mannok manufacturing facilities in County Cavan.

The 6MW solar project is being delivered through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SSE Airtricity and is being installed by Activ8 Solar Energies. The development spans 3.88 hectares of rooftop space, an area equivalent to nearly three GAA pitches.

Once completed and energised, the installation will feature approximately 10,000 solar panels. The system is designed to supply a significant portion of the electricity demand for Mannok, which manufactures construction products and plastic packaging.

According to the project partners, the completed installation is expected to avoid an estimated 792 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, highlighting the expanding role of onsite renewable energy infrastructure in the Irish industrial sector.
