Work begins on Ireland's largest rooftop solar installation at Mannok facility in Cavan

Activ8 Solar Energies has commenced installation work on a 6MW rooftop solar project at Mannok's manufacturing facilities in County Cavan.

Once completed and energised, the development will become Ireland's largest rooftop solar installation. The project is being delivered through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SSE Airtricity and will be positioned across 3.88 hectares of rooftop space, an area equivalent to nearly three GAA pitches.

The finished infrastructure will feature approximately 10,000 solar panels. The system is designed to meet a significant portion of the electricity demand at the manufacturing site, which produces construction products and plastic packaging. Additionally, the solar installation is projected to avoid an estimated 792 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
