WRC rules Dublin property manager discriminated against social housing tenant over gym access

The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered Dillon Marshall Property Consultants to pay €2,500 to a tenant blocked from using an on-site gym.
The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered a property management company to pay €2,500 for discriminating against a Dublin social housing tenant over gym access.
The ruling followed a complaint by Agnieszka Nowakowska, a resident at the Castleview apartment scheme in Inchicore, Dublin. Ms Nowakowska was blocked from using the development's on-site gym because she lived in the social housing block of the complex.
According to the case details, the tenant had offered to pay an additional fee to gain access to the fitness facility. However, she was informed that she could not use the gym due to her residence in the social housing section. The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) determined that this restriction constituted discrimination.
The property management firm, Dillon Marshall Property Consultants, was directed to pay the compensation award. Since the ruling, additional discrimination complaints have been lodged by other social tenants at the development, highlighting an ongoing dispute over access rights to shared amenities within mixed-tenure residential schemes.
