Development description

(1) a borrow pit for the extraction of soil from the application site for export to the nearby donegal county council balbane landfill site restoration project. The main borrow pit activities will consist of the excavation and screening of soil and the loading of the screened soil to trucks for transport off site (2) associated ancillary temporary works and items including: site access; site storm water drainage; silt fences; environmental berms; topsoil & peat storage areas; internal access roads; site compound (bundled refuelling area; portable staff canteen & welfare unit, portable wc & handwashing unit, and parking area); wheelwash; silt trap; oil interceptor; and storm water attenuation pond (3) borrow pit restoration works to restore the site to its pre-development state to the greatest extent possible. Restoration works will include: the re-profiling of the excavation area; the reinstatement of topsoil and peat stripped the excavation area; and the removal of all ancillary temporary works and items. (4) the application site boundary encloses c. 3.2745 ha which will be mainly comprised of: c. 1.3423 ha of an excavation area; c. 0.5 ha of temporary storage area for topsoil and peat stripped from the excavation area; with the remaining c. 1.4322 ha of the site remaining undisturbed. The volume of soil to be extracted and exported from the borrow pit will be c. 37,500 m3. The volume of topsoil and peat to be stripped from the excavation area and maintained on site will be c. 4,027 m3
