Planning permission is sought for the development of lands (c. 1.8ha) within the grounds of merlin park university hospital. The proposed development will comprise of a two storey, part single storey community nursing unit/ residential care unit (c. 5,100sqm total gross floor area (gfa)). The building comprises of 60 en-suite bedrooms, including a 10 bed dementia unit in the single storey block, with associated resident accommodation including dining rooms, residents areas, visitors room and family overnight room, treatment rooms, hairdresser's salon etc. ; internal courtyard and balcony spaces, back of house areas, staff accommodation and ancillary offices, demolition of existing buildings on site including a carpenter's workshop (280sqm gfa), storerooms (95sqm gfa) and vacant former nurses accommodation building (67sqm gfa) (total area of demolition 442sqm gfa) and construction of replacement carpenters workshop (286sqm gfa) and 4 no. Storerooms (total gfa of 103.5sqm).
