The subject site is located at abbeyleix house 'the main house', located in the central portion of abbeyleix estate, in the townland of abbeyleix demesne, co. Laois. Abbeyleix house is a protected structure (rps-090-c). The development will consist of: proposed alterations to the central first floor window (south elevation) to form a door opening, with a 1.1m glazed screen, to provide for use of the juliet balcony; proposed alterations to the first floor northern end window (east elevation) to form a door opening onto a proposed terrace, utilising flat roof of ground floor annex (study) and including 1.1m high balustrade and planters; the upgrade of 6 no.
