Development description

Proposed extension to existing sand and gravel pit (previously permitted under planning permission ref: 08/1056 and registered under ref: qy2) for the extraction of sand and gravel (at a maximum rate of 100,000 tonnes per annum) using hydraulic excavators within a total extraction area of 5.9 ha which includes circa 2 hectares of unworked area within the exiting pit and a proposed extension of circa 3.9 hectares to the north of the existing pit area. Processing will be carried out using the existing screening and washing plant together with all existing site infrastructure including site access, haul roads, settlement lagoons, office / canteen and truck wheel wash. A new wastewater treatment plant and soil polishing filter & toilets are proposed. The proposed development also includes landscaping, screening berms and on completion of extraction restoration of the site to a mixture of woodland and agricultural use. The planning application is accompanied by an environmental impact assessment report (eiar)
