Permission for the retention of the change of use from warehouse/distribution use to market/food emporium as well as the retention of drainage works and ancillary public toilet facilities and are applying for permission for the change of use from vacant warehouse/ distribution use to event and function/gallery/recreation use. Planning permission is also being sought for the construction of key improvements (surface treatments, lighting and pedestrian and cycle facilities) to marina walk this involves the removal of car parking spaces along marina walk which is in the ownership of the applicant. Permission is also sought for the provision of 44 no. Bicycle parking spaces and the rationalization of the existing car park required to facilitate truck movements associated with waste collection and fire tender access: 29 no. Additional spaces are proposed. Permission is sought for the above as well as drainage, staff toilet facilities, additional market units, ancillary washroom and all associated site development works at the site of the former southern fruits distribution company warehouse, centre park road/kennedy quay, cork city. Known as the 'marina market'. The principle access proposed is to the west via the existing access at marina walk and access to the south (pedestrian and cyclist only) is via the existing access at centre park road. The current access at kennedy quay is proposed to be gated and closed to the general public. A temporary 5 year permission is being sought.
