Development description

Expp: protected structure: the building was originally brickwork. Some years ago, the brickwork was rendered in a sand/cement finish. While this is mostly intact the same finish was applied to the chimneystacks. In addition, the chimneypots have all been sealed shut. The front chimney has six pots and the rear has five, the pots require examination as to their suitability. The plaster haunching to the front chimney is badly cracked, and cannot be left unattended or it will deteriorate. Both chimneys require sand/cement render to be stripped, and the brickwork repaired and repointed before the entire is replastered in a strong lime coat. Both chimneys require their pots to be replaced/secured and to be fitted with bird guards. In addition, the present downpipes require to be taken down, be cleaned with wire brushes and to be repaired as necessary before painting them with enamel paint and reinstating them in position.
