- SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2022-20281 The South Dublin County Development Plan 2022-2028 was prepared following a period of extensive consultation involving new approaches in response to the Covid pandemic restrictions. The Plan was made on June 22nd 2022 by the Elected Members of South Dublin County Council. Over 600 submissions were received from the general public and other stakeholders throughout the plan making process. This Plan is the most important policy document guiding the future growth and development of South Dublin County. The Plan is evidence based and provides a robust and agreed economic, social, cultural and environmental ‘roadmap’ for the County. The vision set out in this Plan is to make South Dublin County a place that our communities are proud of, that our businesses can thrive in and that will help us to live greener and healthier lives. The policies and objectives contained in the Plan all contribute towards this vision, placing increased policy emphasis on mitigating and adapting to climate change. While we may be entering a period of uncertain economic outcomes, the County is well placed to ensure that we have sustainable communities with a high quality environment. The need to plan for new housing, employment opportunities, community facilities, transport connections and other infrastructure including energy has all been considered as part of the adopted Plan. The implementation of the Development Plan is fundamental to achieving the Council’s corporate mission to make South Dublin County a vibrant and inclusive place for the people who live, visit, work and do business here, now and for the future. The success of the County Development Plan will depend on the active participation of communities, businesses, residents and members of the public across South Dublin County as well as staff and elected members. In this regard, I would like to thank all those who made submissions to the Plan. The preparation of a Development Plan is a complex process over two years, and I would like to take this opportunity to compliment and thank the Elected Members and the staff of South Dublin County Council, who have worked in close partnership over that time. __________________________ Daniel McLoughlin Chief Executive, South Dublin County Council June 2022 Foreword
