Development description

Sought to infill the subject site of 28.86 hectares in order that the site, which is presently a disused sand and gravel pit, can be restored to agricultural use in keeping with the surrounding land use. The applicant proposes, subject to planning, to operate this facility as an infill facility for inert non-hazardous soil and stone. The incoming soil and stone will be deposited on site and the site contoured to final restoration levels. The applicant also proposes to install a site office and canteen, weighbridge, wheel-wash, new entrance, internal haul road and carry out all ancillary site works. The application relates to an activity requiring a waste licence from the environmental protection agency. The application is accompanied by an environmental impact statement (now referred to as an environmental impact assessment report (eiar).
