Upgrades to the existing athlone water treatment plant located in the townland of athlone, co. Westmeath. The proposed development consists of the following works: above ground coagulation and flocculation tank; 3 no. Below ground wash water settlement tanks; 1 no. Below ground acid dosing static mixer chamber; 1 no. Below ground polymer dosing static mixer chamber; 4 no. Below ground chemical spill collection tanks with valve chambers; welfare building; chemical storage building-2; chemical storage-1 and mcc building; uv and bw pumps kiosk; extension of existing esb substation building; store room; mcc-2 and polymer dosing kiosk; supernatant pump sump and valve chamber; high lift pump sump; modifications to the clear water tank to provide for uv- bw pumps kiosk, backwash tank, disinfection, conditioning mixing chambers and clear water tank; installation roof mounted solar pv panels; existing gantry walkway will be upgraded; new intake screen will be installed along with an automatic cleaning system; new suction piping will be fitted; the existing raw water pumps will be upgraded to meet increased capacity and performance requirements; demolition and removal of existing buildings / facilities, including: a) chemicals storage building b) chlorine tank kiosk c) sulphuric acid dosing kiosk e) fluorine tank kiosk f) storage container g) centrifuge kiosk h) dewatering kiosk i) sludge holding tank j) 2 no.
