Zinc standing-seam: €180–€300/m². 60–100 year lifespan. Premium option. Architectural finish.

Zinc cladding in Ireland: €180–€300/m² installed. 60–100 year lifespan with minimal maintenance. Standing-seam profile is the most common — vertical or horizontal seams, 400–600 mm centres. Architectural finish — used on premium and architect-led builds. Forms a protective patina (light grey) over the first 2–5 years. Self-healing — scratches fade as the patina regenerates. Compatible with most substrates (timber, blockwork, EWI). Requires a ventilated cavity behind the zinc (typically a 38 mm timber batten on a breather membrane). Several Irish suppliers: VM Zinc, ElZinc, NedZink. The premium is worth it for the lifespan and the architectural finish; not worth it for budget builds.
