Aluminium sliding door (3 m): €3,500–€7,000. U-value 0.8–1.2. Lift-and-slide is the warmest; standard slide is the cheapest.

Aluminium sliding door (3 m wide, triple-glazed) in Ireland: €3,500–€7,000 installed. U-value 0.8–1.2 W/m²K. Lift-and-slide: warmest, easiest to operate on large panels, most expensive. Standard slide: cheapest, harder to operate on large panels, can be draughty if not perfectly aligned. Modern triple-glazed sliders are within 0.2 W/m²K of bifolds — both can hit BER A1. The opening size matters: a 3 m slider needs 6 m of clear wall; a 4 m slider needs 8 m. Most Irish self-builds use a 3 m or 4 m slider for indoor-outdoor flow on the south or west elevation. Frame: aluminium is standard; timber and alu-clad are warmer but more expensive.
